Ukuleles For Youth
On Monday, April 8th and Friday, April 12th, 2019, the Heads Up Youth Foundation visited LA Leadership Academy in Lincoln Heights and Craig Williams Elementary in Bellflower, CA to help launch a new music program for each of the schools. The Foundation provided brand new sets of ukuleles for the 5th and 6th grade classes for use as part of their sequential, comprehensive school-wide music program.
The HUYF was proud to partner with Education Through Music Los Angeles for this event. ETM-LA is a non-profit organization that provides music education to disadvantaged children across Los Angeles County. It’s mission is to bring weekly, year-long comprehensive music education to inner-city, at-risk schools. Music education prepares students for the global workforce, increases graduation rates, enhances academic achievement and improves student self-esteem.
